Kindermoord te Bethlehem / Holy Innocents
Op 28 december gedenkt de kerk de kindermoord in Bethlehem en omstreken  (Matteüs 2:16-18). Wij willen dit moment aangrijpen om de kindermoord die nu plaatsvindt, zichtbaar te maken, stil te staan bij onze eigen betrokkenheid en op te roepen tot een einde aan deze voortdurende genocide. Van 14:30 tot 15:30 uur luisteren, reflecteren en bidden we in De Krijtberg, Singel 446 te Amsterdam. Dan lopen we een stille tocht naar De Dam waar we in witte lakentjes gewikkelde poppen neerleggen rondom de kerstboom. Daarna waken we nog enige tijd in stilte op de Dam.

Actie consensus

We tonen respect voor iedereen: voor andere aanwezigen, het grote publiek en mensen die voor de overheid werken zoals de politie. Meningsverschillen mogen er zijn en dialoog gaan we niet uit de weg, met respect voor elkaars standpunt.

We handelen en uiten ons geweldloos en we dragen geen wapens.

In verband met de actievorm gebruiken we geen vlaggen die landen en bewegingen representeren.

We nemen verantwoordelijkheid voor onszelf en ons handelen.

We gebruiken geen alcohol of andere drugs en roken sigaretten alleen op plekken waar anderen er geen last van hebben.

Als deelnemers aan een geweldloze demonstratie zullen we de aanwijzingen van de aangewezen coördinatoren opvolgen. In het geval van een ernstig meningsverschil, dient men zich uit de actie terugtrekken.

We respecteren de stilte tijdens de stille tocht.

Stil staan bij onze betrokkenheid

Sinds 7 oktober 2023 hebben Israëlische aanvallen ten minste 16.800 kinderen gedood. Dat is elke 30 minuten een Palestijns kind dat wordt vermoord, of ongeveer 1 op de 65 kinderen in de Gazastrook. Duizenden anderen worden vermist onder het puin, de meesten zijn vermoedelijk dood.

In een tijd waar twee vormen van racisme (antisemitisme en islamofobie) tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld en de witte westerse mens wederom zijn handen wast in onschuld, willen wij benadrukken het westen deze genocide mogelijk maakt en ervan profiteert.

Wij geloven dat Nederland (en wij als Nederlandse burgers) in grote mate medeverantwoordelijk is voor apartheid, moord en genocide in het Heilige Land (Gaza, de Westbank, Israël, Libanon en daarbuiten) vanwege onze kritiekloze houding in de EU en de NAVO, onze blinde loyaliteit aan de VS en onze handel met Israël, het kopen van hun producten en het leveren van geld en wapens. Als christenen berouwen en veroordelen we ook de bijbels geïnspireerde genocidale geest die de onderdrukking voedt en herinneren we onszelf en onze medechristenen eraan onze naaste lief te hebben als onszelf.

Laten we stoppen met het steunen van àlle hedendaagse Herodessen en hun mannen, die van Hamas, van de IOF en alle andere  moordenaars die de wapenindustrie faciliteert: geen steun meer voor oorlogvoerders.

Laten we herstellen wat is kapot gemaakt door de vele vredelievende mensen in de regio te steunen, zodat vrede en gerechtigheid kunnen bloeien te midden van tuinen, olijfbomen en ruisende ceders.

Holy Innocents

December 28th the Church remembers the Infanticide in Bethlehem and its surroundings (Matthew 2:16-18). We want to use this moment to make visible the infanticide taking place now, reflect on our own involvement and call for an end to this ongoing genocide. From 14:30 – 15:30 we listen, reflect and pray in De Krijtberg, Singel 446 in Amsterdam. At 15:30 hour we walk in silence to De Dam where we will lay down dolls wrapped in white sheets around the Christmas tree with an explanation for the passing public and then we vigil there for some time.

Nonviolence covenant

We show respect for everyone: for other attendees, the general public and people working for the government like the police. Differences of opinion are allowed and we do not shy away from dialogue, respecting each other’s point of view.

We act and express ourselves non-violently and we do not carry weapons.

Due to the form of action, we do not use flags or banners representing countries and movements.

We take responsibility for ourselves and our actions.

We do not use alcohol or other drugs and smoke cigarettes only in places where it does not bother others.

As participants in a nonviolent demonstration, we will follow the directions of designated coordinators. In the event of a serious disagreement, we should withdraw from the action.

Reflecting on our commitment

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed at least 16,800 children. That’s one Palestinian child killed every 30 minutes, or about 1 in 65 children in the Gaza Strip. Thousands more are missing under the rubble, most presumed dead.

At a time when two forms of racism (anti-Semitism and Islamophobia) are being played off against each other, and white Westerners are once again washing their hands of this genocide, we want to emphasize the West is enabling and profiting from this genocide.

We believe that the Netherlands (and us as Dutch citizens) is to a large extent co-responsible for apartheid, murder and genocide in the Holy Land (Gaza, the Westbank, Israel, Lebanon and beyond) because of our uncritical attitude in the EU and NATO, our blind loyalty to the USA and our commerce with Israel, buying their products and supplying them with money and weapons. As Christians we also repent & denounce the biblically inspired genocidal spirit that fuels the oppression and remind ourselves and our fellow-Christians to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Let us stop supporting àll the fighters, those of current day Herods, of Hamas, the IOF and all the other fighters facilitated by the arms industry: no more support for warriors & warmongers.

We call for reparation. Let us support peace-loving people & spirits in the Middle East so peace & justice can flourish amidst gardens, olive groves and mighty Lebanon cedars.
