Let’s exorcise & exercise!

Deel I

Woensdag 25 juni, twee voor twaalf, Ministerie van Oorlog, Kalvermarkt & Plein, Den Haag.

Breng een emmertje en een twijgje en wat water mee
om de machten en krachten die de NAVO beheersen te benoemen, te ontmaskeren en zo bij te dragen aan het uitdrijven ervan
en
om de houding, de instelling die we nodig hebben om in vrede met vriend, vijand en de hele schepping te leven, in te zegenen, leven in te blazen.
Trek ook wandelschoenen aan want een stille processie (2 km) richting NAVO top maakt deel uit van de liturgie die we bij de vredesvlam bij het Vredespaleis met een gebed om vrede afsluiten.

Bij deze inzet voor vrede met elkaar en met de schepping op 25 juni en 16 oktober (zie onder) is er een kans op aanhouding.
Als het goed is, kun je ervoor kiezen om wel of niet aangehouden te worden.
Beide vormen van deelname zijn waardevol en nodig!

Voordat we naar het Ministerie gaan, verzamelen we vanaf 10 uur in een kerk in de buurt. Om 10:30 uur spreken we het gehoopte verloop van ons getuigenis door, verdelen de taken/rollen, doen een check in (als we met niet al te veel zijn) en vragen we om Gods zegen.

Hier kun je een postertje downloaden om te printen voor in je kerk, kroeg, buurtbieb of bio-winkel.

Let op, deze actie is volop in wording. Check dus af en toe het Telegramkanaal of hier voor het laatste nieuws. In gesprekken met de politie zagen we in dat de stoep van het ministerie op de Kalvermarkt nogal krap is als we met 25 mensen zouden zijn. In dat geval beginnen we iets verderop aan de overkant op 83A. En als we met een handjevol zijn, direct voor het Ministerie zelf. Na het noemen van de kwade aspecten/demonen/machten en krachten die de NAVO domineren, zingen we – met hoeveel we ook zijn – het zesde couplet van het Wilhelmus op de stoep voor het Ministerie. De eerste regel staat in de gevel als wapenschild. Daarna gaan we naar de traditionele voordeur van het Ministerie op het Plein om de geest/houding/overtuiging in te zegenen die we graag werkzaam in ons hart en de wereld willen laten zijn.

De burgemeester wilde vorige week (week 24) de stille processie niet faciliteren. Wij hebben laten weten dat de burgemeester in onze ogen een genocidale bende klimaatontkenners faciliteert die bereid zijn tot omnicide met kernwapens. In dat licht bezien hebben we aangegeven te verwachten dat burgemeester van Zanen een handjevol bezorgde burgers niet zal hinderen als zij in een stille processie, achter elkaar lopend, het gewone voetgangersverkeer en ook het andere verkeer niet hinderend, van het Ministerie van Oorlog naar de vredesvlam bij het internationaal gerechtshof lopen om daar voor gerechtigheid, vrede en het behoud van de schepping te bidden.

Iets meer over dit getuigenis

Een theoloog wiens huis in de tijd van de Vietnamoorlog en de burgerrechten beweging door 100 FBI agenten werd omsingeld en doorzocht, heeft ons misschien iets te bieden nu er een NAVO top in ons midden wordt gehouden. Deze actievorm is een poging de inzichten van William Stringfellow handen en voeten te geven.

Aan de andere kant van het Ministerie van Oorlog staat deze wapenspreuk: ‘Mijn schilt ende betrouwen sijt Ghij o God mijn Heer’ . Wij willen belijden dat het vertrouwen op een militair & nucleair schild en op zowel in vredes- als in oorlogstijd dood en verderf zaaiende strijdkrachten haaks staat op vertrouwen in de Scheppende, de Levende & Barmhartige.

Een voorbeeld:

Enerzijds willen we de geest die heerst over verontrustend vele Christenen, waaronder de Amerikaanse minister van oorlog, Pete Hegseth, en daarmee over de NAVO, dat het Gode welgevallig zou zijn als Palestijnen net als Filistijnen en andere volken worden verdreven of uitgeroeid, uitdrijven door die geest te benoemen, te ontmaskeren.

Vervolgens zouden we met Ezechiël  kunnen zeggen/zegenen: 

Dan zal Ik rein water op u sprengen, en gij zult rein worden; van al uw onreinigheden en van al uw drekgoden zal Ik u reinigen.

En Ik zal u een nieuw hart geven, en zal een nieuwen geest geven in het binnenste van u; en Ik zal het stenen hart uit uw vlees wegnemen, en zal u een vlesen hart geven. 

Een ‘vlesen hart’ voor Nederland en ons Ministerie van Oorlog, een geest die inspireert om onze marineschepen vol te laden met door de bevolking ingezamelde hulpgoederen en te bemensen met marine personeel & burgers die er vrijwillig voor kiezen om zonder munitie, ongewapend en in het bewustzijn dat zo’n inzet voor vrede en gerechtigheid minstens zo riskant is als oorlog voeren, naar Gaza te varen en de hulpgoederen aan land te brengen voor allen die willen blijven. Om dan allen die weg willen aan boord te verwelkomen en hen bij te staan een nieuw leven op te bouwen. Wat een zegen zou dat zijn!

Het energieverbruik en daarmee de uitstoot van broeikasgassen door vliegtuigen, schepen en rollend materieel van strijdkrachten is gigantisch. Overschakelen op elektrische vaar/voer/vliegtuigen en ‘bio’ brandstoffen gaat niet helpen om de klimaat- en biodiversiteitscrisis het hoofd te bieden omdat ook daarvoor veel kapot wordt gemaakt (mijnbouw, monoculturen etc.) en de strijdkrachten dan nog steeds met hun sonar en andere technieken ecosystemen blijven verwoesten en vroeg of laat het leven massaal vernietigen met kernwapens als wij niet omkeren op deze heilloze weg.   

Laten we ook een problematisch Godsbeeld benoemen dat bijdraagt aan de verschrikkelijke staat van samenleving en schepping. Problematisch, want God is Liefde en zaait leven en Jezus beveelt ons onze vijanden lief te hebben en het kwade door het goede te overwinnen.

We willen ook bidden voor ommekeer en zegen over de de tienduizenden politieagenten die op de been zijn om deze doodscultuur te beschermen, de mensen op de NAVO top, de stad Den Haag, de samenleving, opdat we SAMEN, Noord & Zuid Korea, Rusland, China, de NAVO lidstaten, Palestijnen en Israeli’s, het roer omgooien en met hart en ziel streven naar leven in harmonie met de schepping en naar het oplossen van onze conflicten op wijzen die ander leven respecteren.

Zo roeit de krachtige militaire sonar walvissen uit terwijl zij juist de groei en bloei van plankton stimuleren en zo een mega bijdrage leveren aan het vastleggen van koolstof uit- en de afgave van zuurstof aan de atmosfeer. Naast een emmertje en groen takje, zou een kartonnen walvis op een stokje uit een rugzakje kunnen steken. Zo kan ieder dat wat je dierbaar is en bedreigd wordt door de omnicidale militaire denk- & handelswijze meebrengen en in de actie mee laten resoneren. 

Deel II Vrede oefenen

In oktober vindt een twee weken durende oefening met kernwapens plaats, Steadfast Noon, om het voeren van een kernoorlog in Europa en het Midden Oosten soepel te laten verlopen als het bevel daartoe komt.

Op donderdag 16 oktober gaan wij vrede oefenen, voor het behoud van vriend en vijand en de hele schepping. Ook deze actie is nog volop in wording en op de site vind je er gaandeweg meer over. Enkele ideeën zijn om aan de kop van de startbaan jonge Douglassen en andere hoog opgroeiende bomen te planten, om tunnels onder het hek door te graven (‘vrede scheppen’) en om een met regenboog doeken omgeven rolstoel & rollator toegankelijks toegang te maken zodat àlle bezorgde burgers op de startbaan kunnen zitten om de waanzinnige uitstoot van CO2 door kernoorlog oefenende F-35 bommenwerpers een halt toe te roepen.

Actie consensus

We tonen respect voor iedereen: voor andere aanwezigen, het grote publiek, vliegtuigspotters en mensen die voor de overheid werken zoals de politie, marechaussee en de luchtmacht. Meningsverschillen mogen er zijn en dialoog gaan we niet uit de weg, met respect voor elkaars standpunt.

We handelen en uiten ons geweldloos en we dragen geen wapens.

We dragen geen vlaggen die landen vertegenwoordigen.

We nemen verantwoordelijkheid voor onszelf en de juridische gevolgen van onze aanwezigheid en ons handelen.

We gaan niet rennen en verzetten ons niet tegen aanhouding.

Bij een mogelijk nader gehoor kunnen we zwijgen, een verklaring afleggen of een van tevoren zelf geschreven verklaring overhandigen die we eventueel mondeling kunnen toelichten, waarbij we niets over anderen verklaren maar verantwoording nemen voor ons eigen handelen en onze motivatie delen.  

We gebruiken geen alcohol of andere drugs en roken sigaretten alleen op plekken waar anderen er geen last van hebben.

Als deelnemers aan een geweldloze demonstratie zullen we de aanwijzingen van de aangewezen coördinatoren opvolgen. In het geval van een ernstig meningsverschil, dient men zich uit de actie terugtrekken.

Part 1

Wednesday, June 25, two to twelve, Ministry of War, Kalvermarkt/Plein, The Hague.

Bring a small bucket and a twig and some water
to name, expose and thereby contribute to exorcise the powers and principalities that dominate NATO
and
to give words, breath life into & bless the attitude we need to live in peace with friend, enemy and all creation.
Put on walking shoes because a silent procession (2 km) toward NATO Summit is part of the liturgy that we conclude at the peace flame at the Peace Palace with a prayer for peace.

Before we go to the Ministry, we gather at a nearby church. Walk in time from 10 am onwards. At 10:30 we talk through the hoped-for course of our testimony, divide the tasks/roles, do a check in (if there are not too many of us) and ask for God’s blessing.

In discussions with the police, we could see that the sidewalk at the Ministry on the Kalvermarkt is rather cramped if there were 25 of us. If that is the case, we will start a little further down & across the street at 83A. If there’s a handful of us, we start directly in front of the Ministry. After naming the evil aspects/demons/powers and principalities that dominate NATO, we will sing the sixth verse of the National Anthem on the sidewalk in front of the Ministry, no matter how many we are. The first line is in the façade as a coat of arms and we reclaim it. Then we go to the traditional front door of the Ministry at the Plein to pronounce & bless the spirit/attitude/belief that we would like to be operative in our hearts and the world.

The mayor did not want to facilitate the silent procession last week (week 24). We made it known that in our view the mayor is facilitating a genocidal gang of climate deniers prepared to commit omnicide with nuclear weapons. In that light, we shared our expectation that Mayor van Zanen will not interfere with a handful of concerned citizens as they walk in a silent procession, one behind the other, not impeding normal pedestrian or other traffic, from the Ministry of War to the peace flame at the International Court of Justice to pray for justice, peace and the preservation of creation.

This website is bi-langual. But the Telegram channel, the street liturgy and the briefing will (probably) be (mainly) in Dutch. If you want to participiate and feel the need for translation, we ask you to find somebody in the group or bring a translator.

Some background about this action

A theologian whose house was surrounded and raided by 100 FBI agents during the time of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement, may have something to offer us now that a NATO summit is being held in our midst. This action is an attempt to put William Stringfellow’s insights into action.

At the other side of the Ministry of War is this cost of arms: “My schield and trust thou art O God my Lord” . We want to confess that trusting in a military & nuclear shield and in both in time of peace and in time of war death and destruction spreading forces is diametrically opposed to trusting in the Creator, the Living & Merciful One.

First we name the demons that rule over NATO, the Ministry of War, society and hence also over us:

An example: by naming, unmasking, the spirit that prevails among disturbing numbers of Christians, including the U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, and by extension NATO, that it would be pleasing to God if Palestinians were driven out or exterminated like Philistines and other peoples, we want to excorcise this spirit.

In the second half of the liturgy we want to bless with Ezekiel:

“I will sprinkle clean water upon you,
and you shall be clean from all your uncleanliness.
a new heart I will give you,
and put a new spirit within you,
and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh”.

An example: A “heart of flesh” for the Netherlands and our Ministry of War, a spirit that inspires to load our naval vessels full of relief supplies the people gathered and to crew them with naval personnel & civilians who voluntarily choose to sail to Gaza without ammunition, unarmed and aware that such a commitment to peace and justice is at least as risky as waging war, and to bring the relief supplies ashore for all who wish to stay. And then welcome aboard all who want to leave and assist them building up new life. What a blessing that would be!

The energy consumption and hence greenhouse gas emissions from aircraft, ships and rolling stock of armed forces is huge. Switching to electric shipping/rolling/flying and “bio” fuels is not going to help deal with the climate and biodiversity crisis because for this much will be destroyed (mining, monocultures, etc.) and then the armed forces will still continue to devastate ecosystems with their sonar and other techniques and sooner or later destroy life en masse with nuclear weapons if we don’t turn around on this deadly path.

For example, powerful military sonar exterminates whales when in fact whales stimulate the growth of plankton, thus being a vital part of an ecosystem that sequesters millions tons of carbon per day from – and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. In addition to a small bucket and green twig, a cardboard whale could stick out of a backpack on a stick. Each of us can bring that which is dear to you and threatened by the omnicidal military way of thinking & acting and let it breathe into the action.

Let us also name a problematic image of God that contributes to the terrible state of society and creation. Problematic because God is Love and sows life and Jesus commands us to love our enemies and to overcome evil with good.

After our silent procession to the peace flame we want to pray for the tens of thousands of policemen on the beat to protect this culture of death, the people at the NATO summit, the city of The Hague, society, that we TOGETHER, North & South Korea, Russia, China, NATO member states, Palestinians and Israelis, may change course and strive with heart and soul to live in harmony with creation and to resolve our conflicts in ways that respect other life.

Part II

Excercise Peace

A two-week nuclear weapons exercise, Steadfast Noon, will take place in October to practise the smooth conduct of nuclear war in Europe and the Middle East when the order comes.

Thursday October 16th we will practice peace, the preservation of friend and foe and all creation. This action is also still in the making and you will find more about it on the site as we go along. Some ideas are to plant young Douglases and other tall-growing trees at the head of the runway, to dig tunnels under the fence and to create a rainbow cloth-lined wheelchair & walker accesible entrance so all concerned citizens can sit on the runway to stop the insane emissions of CO2 from nuclear war practicing F-35 bombers.

In these two peace actions, there is a chance of arrest.
If all goes well, you can choose to be apprehended or not.
Both forms of participation are valuable and necessary!

Action Consensus

We show respect for everyone: for other activists, the general public, plane spotters and people working for the government such as the police, military police and air force.

Differences of opinion are fine and we do not shy away from dialogue, respecting each other’s point of view.

We act and express ourselves non-violently and we do not carry weapons.

We do not use flags representing countries.

We take responsibility for ourselves and the legal consequences of our presence and actions.

We will not run or resist arrest.

At a possible hearing by the (military) police we may remain silent, make a statement or hand over a pre-written statement of our own which we might explain orally, declaring nothing about others but taking responsibility for our own actions and sharing our motivation.

We do not use alcohol or other drugs and smoke cigarettes only in places where it does not bother others.

As participants in a nonviolent demonstration, we will follow the directions of designated coordinators. In the event of a serious disagreement, we should withdraw from the action.
